Shakawe is located in the northwest corner of Botswana at the beginning of the Okavango Delta, and right next to the Okavango Panhandle, which is the main watercourse supplying the Okavango Delta.
Travellers often regard Shakawe as an exit or entrance into Botswana or a starting point for a visit to the Tsodilo Hills located about 40 kilometres away.
